Huawei – The Chinese Networking and Telecommunications Giant

Founded in 1987, Huawei is one of the largest providers in the world, of networking and telecommunications equipment and services. The company serves 45 of the world’s 50 largest telecom operators and its products and services have been deployed in more than 170 countries. 

At the time of its incorporation, Huawei’s focus was on manufacturing phone switches. Over the next few years, the company gradually expanded its business to providing telecommunications equipment and services, operational and consulting services, and manufacturing networking devices for the consumer market. 

Huawei currently has 21 R&D institutes in 17 countries around the world. In 2017, it briefly surpassed Apple and became the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world after Samsung. In the same year, the company was ranked 83rd in the Fortune Global 500 list by Fortune Magazine and reported a revenue of over US$ 92 billion.
